Phuket is the biggest Island of Thailand, amongst fighters it's known for the Muay Thai scene there.
If you go to Phuket by plane, consider that the airport is pretty far away, it's about a 45-minute drive from the airport to the old town. There are some buses, but the schedules and destinations are not very clear. Alternatively, you can get a Bolt or Grab (local Uber alternatives) for about 700 baht ($18) to your Hotel.
Phuket Town is definitely a good start for your trip, to start to get to know Phuket.
Soi Ta Iad or also called the fitness street is located in Chalong a bit south of Phuket Town. It's a 1.5km long Street full of gyms and healthy restaurants, it's truly made for athletes and people with fitness goals. Mostly Muay Thai gyms, but also CrossFit, Weight Gyms and many more. The Gyms offer a lot of Fitness and conditioning classes as well.
You find Protein Shakes, Healthy Meals and like-minded people everywhere.
You can find all you need to know about Soi Ta Iad in this Blog post.
Patong Beach is a very touristy place, it's known for its party scene at bangla Road. At nighttime the Road gets blocked off, and they make it a walking street, with just so many clubs next to each other.
Our favorite club was definitely Illuzion Nightclub, but there are so many other ones as well.
So if you want to go for a night out in Phuket, that's definitely the place to go.
While the South and south-east of the Island feel more like a City, Bangtao Beach definitely felt more like an Island. Just more peaceful than Patong, Phuket town and Rawai. So definitely a recommendation to check out.
We rented a bigger motorbike (300ccm) for a day trip to the north of the Island, it was such a good experience, the north is totally different to the south. While the south is filled with tourists and very busy, the north is more peaceful, more nature and there are mostly local people around.
