Chiang Mai is the biggest City in the north of Thailand. Many people say it's a smaller and better version of Bangkok, because it's a City and has everything you need, but you can also leave the city in a few minutes drive and spend time in the beautiful nature.
The two most popular places are the old town which is a in the City with a square road around it. There are many small alleys in all of the old town. Alternatively Nimman, which is a bit west of the old town, it's a bit more modern, but also has everything you need.
Some of the best places to party in Chiang Mai are
Zoe in Yellow is definitly the place you want to go for a night out in the old town, it's a bit of a mix between a club and a bar. At midnight Zoe's closes and that when everybody moves over to "The Spicy"
The Spicy is a nightclub just a few minutes away from Zoe in Yellow, it's pretty empty until about midnight when everybody comes over from Zoe's, but then it's a really good place to party. The Spicy closes at 2 AM.
Warmup Cafe is also a mix between bar and nightclub, when you walk in, there is a huge area with tables and thai life music, but at the opposite side, there is a door to a big nightclub area, with a DJ. Definitly my favourite place to party in Nimman.
Sylivis' is a cocktail bar, not far away from "The Spicy" it's on the ground level of a hostel, so there are always a lot of young travellers to socialise with. The barkeeper is truly a master of his trade, he is not only mixing the drinks, but he's also making a show out of it with the use of fire.
Doi Suthep is a temple, located on a mountain just a short drive out of Chiang Mai. On the way up there are many other temples and lookouts, which are all worth a look. Especially my favourite temple Wat Pha Lat, it's a lot quieter there and the view over Chiang Mai is amazing.
CMU (Chiang Mai University) is a really nice place. It's a huge campus with a lot of green area, parks and also a lake. "Living a Dream" is my favourite spot to get breakfast with a lake view and after your meal, you can go for a walk around the lake.
At first i was a bit sceptical about the Elephant Sanctuary. But after i done the trip, I have to say it was really worth it, we had so much fun together, it was a really great trip and definitely worth it.
The night bazaar is a shopping street with a lot of shops and markets, so if you're in Chaing Mai definitely go and check it out.
